Children fetching water in Northern Ghana

Clean, safe water is a basic human need.

Access to clean and safe drinking water is essential for healthy living. Yet many deprived and impoverished communities in Northern Ghana still lack access to potable water for drinking and domestic use.

As a result

The cost of water scarcity

When safe water is out of reach, the burden falls hardest on women, children and the most vulnerable.

Long, daily journeys for unsafe water

Women and children walk long distances daily to fetch water that is often unsafe to drink.

Lost school days for the girl-child

The girl-child frequently arrives late to school or misses school entirely because of water-collection duties.

Preventable health risks

Communities face preventable illnesses and outbreaks caused by contaminated water sources.

Our Response

Mechanised boreholes for the Yendi Municipality

The World Humanitarian Service Foundation (WHSF) has identified deprived communities in the Yendi Municipality where access to portable water is a critical, life-saving need. We are seeking funding support from philanthropic individuals and organizations to provide mechanised boreholes for these communities.

  • Mechanised boreholes serving entire communities
  • Reduced waterborne illness and child mortality
  • Girls back in classrooms, not water queues
  • Local stewardship for long-term sustainability
