World Humanitarian Service Foundation (“WHSF”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is a registered non-profit organization based in Tamale, Ghana, operating the website worldhsf.org. We are the data controller responsible for the personal information processed through this site.
2. Information We Collect
We collect only the information needed to deliver our programs, process donations and communicate with supporters:
- Contact details — name, email address, phone number and country provided through forms.
- Donation information — amount, project, currency, transaction reference and timestamp. Card and mobile-money details are handled directly by our payment processor (Paystack) and are never stored on our servers.
- Sponsorship details — information you share when expressing interest in sponsoring a child.
- Technical data — IP address, browser type, device information and pages visited, collected through cookies and standard server logs.
- Correspondence — any messages you send us by email, contact form or social media.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To process donations and issue receipts.
- To match sponsors with children and provide updates on supported programs.
- To respond to enquiries, volunteer requests and partnership offers.
- To send newsletters, impact stories and appeals — only where you have opted in.
- To improve the website, prevent fraud and meet legal and audit obligations.
4. Legal Basis
We process your data on the basis of your consent (for newsletters and optional forms), the performance of a contract (when you donate or sponsor a child), our legitimate interests (improving our services and protecting the site), and our legal obligations (accounting and audit requirements in Ghana).
5. Payments
Donations are processed through Paystack. When you donate, your payment details are submitted directly to Paystack under their own privacy and security policies. WHSF receives only the confirmation, amount and reference of the transaction — never your full card number or PIN.
6. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data. We may share limited information with:
- Payment processors, hosting and email providers acting on our behalf.
- Our independent auditors (WAYO CONSULT) and regulators where required by law.
- Partner organizations (such as Phoenix Global Humanitarian Foundation) only with your consent.
7. Cookies
We use a small number of essential and analytics cookies to keep the site working and to understand which pages are most useful. You can disable cookies in your browser at any time; some features may then not function correctly.
8. Data Retention
We keep donor and sponsor records for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purpose for which they were collected and to meet legal, tax and audit requirements in Ghana (typically up to 7 years for financial records). Newsletter contacts are kept until you unsubscribe.
9. Security
We use industry-standard technical and organisational safeguards — including HTTPS encryption, access controls and trusted third-party processors — to protect your information. No system, however, can be guaranteed 100% secure.
10. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction or deletion of your data.
- Withdraw consent or unsubscribe from communications at any time.
- Lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission of Ghana.

11. Children’s Privacy
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 16. Photographs and stories of beneficiaries are published only with the documented consent of a parent, guardian or authorised caregiver.
